Title: Visiting Uncle England Chapter 1
Warnings: No warnings really- just fluff later and might get angsty in later chapters
Summary: You are- well you- but also the personification of the state of Michigan. You look around 18 or 19 and are off to visit dear Uncle Iggy for a while. The visit is filled with hard college classes, adventures with Uncle Iggy, and meetings nations your father- America- has only mentioned briefly. Have fun!
~.~.~
She scanned the airport, tapping her toes impatiently.Where is he? She wondered. It's not like him to be late.
"Michigan!"
She turned her head- glared at the male briskly walking to her. "It's about time!"
The Brit rolled his eyes and began to wonder what made him decide to let the state spend the summer with him. He contemplated shipping her back to America. "Well excuse me for being busy."
[Name] smiled, "You're excused." She slipped the strap of the duffel bag over her shoulders and looked at her uncle with a grin still on her face. "I'm starving Uncle Iggy; can we get something to eat?"
"If you must call me uncle you will call me Uncle England or Uncle Arthur," He glared at her. "And I'm preparing dinner for us at home."
"Uh," She murmured. America had warned her about her uncle's cooking. "But I'm hungry now!"
"I don't live that far, you can wait." The tone he spoke in was stern- almost as if he was speaking to a whining child.
"Fine," [Name] grumpily muttered. She would just have to suck it up for tonight and hope her stomach would not have to be pumped.
"I apologize that you will not have your hourly hamburger," He drily said, moving towards the exit of the airport.
"Rude!" [Name] pouted, jogging a bit to catch up to his fast pace. "Unlike my father, I don't survive on hamburgers. Heck, I only eat them, like, once a week."
"Sure, sure if you say so love," He replied.
~.~.~
Soon the two were headed out of the city and towards the country side where England lived. It was a twenty minute ride from the city and no more than thirty minutes later [Name] was setting up the room that would be hers for the next few months. She placed pictures of her brothers and sisters on the night stand and dresser- placing the stuffed animals that her father bought her over the years on top of her [favorite color] comforter. It didn't take long for her to stash her clothes away and place her toiletries in the connecting bathroom. While placing the last of her things away her cellphone rang.
"Hello?" She questioned.
"MICHIGAN!" America shouted through the phone. "Are you okay? Has he poisoned you yet? Do you want to come back home?"
[Name] sighed, plopping down on her bed. "I'm fine and no he hasn't poisoned me. And no Dad, I don't want to come home. I'm going to do my studies for the summer term. I'll see you in two weeks though when you come for the world meeting right?"
"Yep!" She could practically hear him smiling through the phone. "I miss you!"
[Name] couldn't help but laugh. "I miss you too Dad."
She soon said goodbye to her father- heading to the main level of the house to see if her uncle had finished dinner.
"Oh, [Name] I just finished dinner," England said.
"What is it?" She asked curiously. The meal that was placed in front of her looked...interesting.
"Fish and chips of course," He replied with a scoff. "I forget you have been deprived of good food for so many years."
[Name] bit back a comment- picking up her fork to try the food. Cue gulping down a whole glass of water to get rid of the taste.
"Good God Michigan don't gulp like that," England scolded her, taking the glass to fill it back up. "It's unladylike."
"Sorry," She muttered, glaring at the food in front of her. Her mouth felt horrible and all she wanted to do was lay down- jet lag finally setting in. "Uncle Artie, I'm done."
England casted her a worried look. "What do you mean? You hardly ate even half of your food!"
She felt bad for not eating the food her uncle had prepared for her, but she honestly felt that if she ate anymore of the Brit's food she'd probably puke. Not something you want to do on the first day at a relative's house.
"I'm just really sleepy. It's been a long day." She was startled when she felt a hand on her forehead- pushing her [hair color] bangs up out of her face.
"You don't seem to have a fever," England sighed, removing his hand. "Alright, if you get hungry again just come down and get a snack. Go get some rest, okay?"
She nodded, standing up and heading up to her room. Odd, Dad said that uncle wasn't very affectionate. She thought. And he doesn't seem like the type to worry easily over someone else. She shrugged, changing into her pajamas and crawling into bed- still hungry. Wrapping her arms around her [favorite animal] stuffed animal she fell asleep.
~.~.~Next Morning~.~.~
[Name] woke up groggy the next morning at 9:30. Normally this would be early for the teenage state, but she couldn't seem to go back to sleep. She rolled out of bed, showering and changing into jeans shorts and a t-shirt. I've got two days till classes start- maybe uncle will take me around London.
Trotting down the stairs she found England in his study sipping tea and reading over a pile of paperwork. She knocked softly on the frame of the door to make her presence known. "Uncle Iggy?"
England sighed, not bothering to correct his niece. He had a feeling that no matter how many times he corrected her, she would never change. "Yes love?"
"Are you busy today?" She asked.
He swiveled in his chair. "Yes I am. Luckily since I knew you'd want to explore I created a map for you so you can go around the city."
"You did?" She blinked, surprised that her uncle took the time to create her a map. "Thanks dude!"
England groaned, handing her the map and some money. "Please don't say that. It makes you sound unintelligent and ridiculous."
[Name] pouted. "I think you're just jealous because you didn't come up with it first."
"Yes that must be it," He replied sarcastically. "Now run along. There's some breakfast in the fridge for you. Hurry up before the 10:35 train comes. The train station is located on your map."
She grinned giving her uncle a quick hug. "Thanks Uncle Iggy!"
England blushed, turning back to his desk quickly. "Y-you're welcome! Just be back by nightfall."
She rolled her eyes. He was giving her a time limit- cute. "Okay, see ya!"
She skipped out on breakfast, deciding to pick something up while she was in London. She easily found the train station that was only a few minutes away from England's home. Uncle Iggy is so odd; she couldn't help but think as she boarded the 10:35 train with her purse securely in her lap as she gazed out the window. Dad made him seem so mean and antisocial. Uncle's really a nice guy! She thought. She decided only to tell a few of her siblings how nice their uncle was when she got back- she knew that the New England states would never believe her so she wouldn't waste her time on them.
Once within the city she took in the sights and sounds with a smile. She grabbed a quick coffee and pastry at a cafe before deciding on visiting a history museum. Maybe it came with being a state, but she loved learning about different countries cultures. Not counting her trips to visit her Uncle Canada (she saw him often since they were neighbors) she had never left the continent of North America. Excitement bubbled inside of her as she looked into the past.
"Bonjour madame," [Name] suddenly heard from behind her. "How are you this afternoon?" Turning around she saw the blond nation her father had warned her many times to stay away from. "France?"
My first try at a reader insert story. I've had this idea for a while so I thought "why not?". Hopefully it's okay!!
